The Carver College of Medicine GAP Fund has awarded a total of $108,800 to four faculty and staff teams to advance the development of innovative medical devices and health software.
Ashley Hui, Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, and Christine Sindt, Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, received $28,000 to advance a new device for eyelid cleaning and contact lens insertion.
Jessica Skeie, Research Scientist in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Mark Greiner, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, and Christine Sindt, Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, received $40,000 to support the advancement of an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory gel for eye and eyelid health.
Melissa Bates, Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, received $30,000 to support the advancement of Pneumero, an improved technology to remotely monitor lung disease.
Chris Sales, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences received $10,800 to support the advancement of a device for eye injury prevention with use cases in both clinical and home settings.
