Stefano Byer, MD, MS
Hometown: Kansas City
Studies: Internal Medicine Resident
Stefano’s interest in innovation is deeply rooted in his view of medicine as both a driver and beneficiary of progress. From antibiotics to aortic valve replacements, he sees the history of medicine as a testament to curiosity, rigorous understanding of physiology, and a relentless commitment to improving patients’ quality and length of life.
His first hands-on experience with biomedical innovation came during medical school, when he partnered with classmate Nick Love to help advance an injection device through FDA studies and into the market, an experience that solidified his appreciation for translating ideas into impactful solutions. As a resident, Stefano continued to explore this passion by collaborating with colleague and co-fellow Aaron Brake on projects ranging from AI-powered patient education portals to novel catheter-based endovascular technologies.
Looking ahead, Stefano aspires to contribute to the advancement of minimally invasive - but maximally effective - diagnostic and therapeutic technologies within cardiology. His goal is to push the boundaries of what the field can achieve to better serve patients.
Outside of medicine, Stefano enjoys cooking, playing acoustic guitar, cycling, traveling, and diving into art history and biographies.
