Mark J. Gilbert, MD has served Chief Operating Officer of Neuvogen, Inc. since May 2023. Dr. Gilbert brings more than 35 years of experience in global medical and clinical research and development, and management of medical affairs. He has been responsible for approvals in the US, EU and China, including Breyanzi, Carteyva, Abecma and supplemental approvals for Leukine and Fludara. Dr. Gilbert has served in and headed several global development organizations in oncology, as well as served on boards of directors for immune-oncology companies, both privately held and public.

Dr. Gilbert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Iowa and a Medical Doctor degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He trained in internal medicine, infectious disease and medical oncology at the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Washington, respectively. In addition, he held academic appointments at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington from 1993 until 1998, specializing in T cell therapy development for viral diseases and cancer.

Dr. Gilbert began his biotech career at Immunex Corporation, where he served as Senior Medical Director, Clinical Research and Development until 2002, after which, he held leadership positions at Bayer Schering Pharma AG, where he served as Vice President and Head of Global Clinical Development, Therapeutic Area Oncology; Berlex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he served as Vice President of Medical Affairs, Oncology, and Vice President and Head of Global Medical Development Group, Oncology until 2008. Between November 2013 and January 2020, Dr. Gilbert was the Chief Medical Officer of Juno Therapeutics Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, where he led the clinical development and FDA approval of some of the first CAR-T cell therapies. From March 2020 to September 2024, Dr. Gilbert served as Chief Medical Officer and Head of Research and Development at JW Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage cell therapy biotechnology company, where he lead development and NMPA approval of the CAR T cell therapy, Carteyva.

Dr. Gilbert has served as an Independent Board Director to several companies both private and public, including Silicon Therapeutics, Inc., Inceptor Bio LLC and Indaptus, Inc; all biotechnology companies developing multiple next-generation cell and gene therapy platforms for underserved and difficult-to-treat cancers. He also serves on the Board of Advisors at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
