Joshua Kettelkamp's path to innovation began long before medical school, where he witnessed firsthand how multidisciplinary collaboration and thoughtful product development could solve complex, high-stakes problems. Before pursuing his M.D. at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Joshua spent four years in defense aerospace, leading engineering teams responsible for next-generation avionics upgrades for the U.S. Coast Guard helicopter fleet. Today, he brings that systems-thinking mindset to healthcare through research applying machine learning to improve immunosuppressant management following kidney transplantation. Drawn to the intersection of medicine, artificial intelligence, and clinical decision-making, Joshua is passionate about developing technologies that support physicians while improving patient care. As an aspiring physician-scientist, he hopes to leverage innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaborative leadership to translate new technologies into meaningful advances for patients across Iowa and beyond.
