Biography

Hometown: Springfield, Illinois

Studies: MBA student, Tippie College of Business

Holling’s passion for innovation began early, fueled by a fascination with science and technology that he explored through magazines like Popular Mechanics and Wired. That curiosity led him to pursue advanced training in drug discovery and experimental therapeutics at the University of Iowa, where he contributed to novel approaches for targeting Caspase-7, a protein involved in neuroinflammation. His work explored in-silico drug screening methods and fragment-based validation strategies, with the goal of identifying therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. This hands-on research experience inspired a growing interest in translational science and biotechnology entrepreneurship.

Now pursuing an MBA at the Tippie College of Business, Holling is focused on bridging the gap between scientific innovation and strategic business development. His goal is to help bring novel therapeutics to market by combining research insights with commercial expertise. He is especially interested in addressing unmet medical needs through biotech ventures that integrate radiopharmaceuticals, targeted delivery systems, and innovative screening technologies.

Holling aspires to launch his own biotech company, develop intellectual property, and contribute to a future of more precise and accessible treatments. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys working out, baking sourdough bread, playing crokinole, and spending time with his two cats, Tilly and Ringo.
